Definition of Research
- Research is best conceived as the process of arriving at dependable solutions to problems through the planned and systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
- It brings to light new knowledge or corrects previous errors or misconceptions and adds in an orderly way to the existing body of knowledge.
- We try to know about the nature of phenomena by experience, reasoning and research
- Reasoning- inductive, deductive or inducto-deductive approach
- Induction- from observation to hypothesis ie., specific to general
- Deduction- from hypothesis to their specific implication.
- Inducto-deductive- first operates inductively from observation to hypothesis and then deductively from these hypothesis to their specific implication inorder to check their validity with accepted knowledge.
